The Veterinary Cancer Referral Center invites all veterinarians and their staff to a free workshop Staying Afloat: Managing Compassion Fatigue, Maximizing Compassionate Care

GUEST SPEAKER:

Carrie La Jeunesse, DVM, CT, CCFEDr. La Jeunesse received her DVM from University of California School of Veterinary Medicine which was followed by a small animal internship at Washington State University. She has since received a Certificate in Thanatology through the Association of Death Education and Counseling. Dr. La Jeunesse has presented CE courses and workshops on compassion fatigue, grief, loss, and bereavement. Dr. La Jeunesse is a past president of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association.

Favorite Snack: Hot dogs when he visits Teresa and Dr. Freeman!

Favorite Past Time: UFC fighting with his brother Rawley and watching out the window for squirrels, crows and kitties.

Favorite Place to take a Car Ride: Oliver hates car rides, and if he knows one is coming up he hides, but if he does have to go, he likes to visit grandma in Eugene.
Special Moments: Every day that he’s healthy.  When he tucks his head down and leans into you for you to pet him.  He likes to give delicate little kisses – for no reason at all.
Favorite Place to Sleep: Either behind your neck on the back of the sofa or on the bench strategically placed for dogs under the front window.
Things he doesn’t like: Car rides, the vacuum cleaner, baths, water in general, remote controls (very scary), mushrooms.

Meet Johnny Angel!

Favorite food: fresh-cooked chicken, and since his cancer diagnosis, he has eaten so much fresh-cooked chicken that we’re expecting him to imminently sprout feathers and cluck.

Favorite pastime: is stalking his brother Chuck, whom he loves to intimidate with great displays of yeowling and (war) games of chase.

Favorite sleeping spot: his preference is for sleeping spooned next to my husband or me, with his body under the comforter and his head resting next to ours on the pillows.
